Lagwagon Playing Three Shows in California

Lagwagon Playing Three Shows in California

If you’re in the California area, you should consider checking out one of Lagwagon’s shows this September.
They’ll only be playing three shows, so it’s sort of a blink and you’ll miss it type of thing.
Also, don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for news later this year, when Fat Wreck Chords will be re-issuing Lagwagon’s Duh on colored vinyl. I wrote about the project a few posts back.
Click “Read More” for the three show dates.

Monday Music Madness: Municipal Waste

Monday Music Madness: Municipal Waste

Hope ya’ll had a terrific weekend. Ready for some Monday Music Madness? I am! I had a very long weekend.
Today’s band, Municipal Waste offers up an awesome blend of thrash metal and punk. The new track, called “Boner City” can be heard on the band’s Myspace page.
I don’t know about you, but this type of music is definitely the kind of wake up call I need on a Monday morning.
Give this previously unreleased track a listen, and let me – and the band – know what you think!
Also, keep your eyes peeled on Amazon and in stores near you for …read more

The Offspring Get New Drummer

The Offspring Get New Drummer

Aw, it appears the Offspring have gotten a new drummer.
Atom Willard has officially left the band, apparently to focus on his other band, Angels and Airwaves. He still remains friends with the band and wishes them all the best.
Now, Willard has been replaced with Pete Parada, who has been a member of Alkaline Trio, Saves The Day AND Face to Face.

Fall Out Boy Post New Remix?

Fall Out Boy Post New Remix?

Okay, just to set the record straight up front – I do not like Fall Out Boy. However, they are technically classified as “pop punk,” so they aren’t completely irrelevant to this blog
Why am I writing about this? It’s quite simple – because I get to bash them. Juvenile, perhaps, but hear me out. They’ve released a new remix of their single “This Ain’t a Scene, it’s an Arms Race.”
If they were going to collaborate with other artists, you think they’d pick a few that actually sounded musically similar to their slightly aggravating style.

Fat Wreck Chords Announces Reissue Project

Fat Wreck Chords Announces Reissue Project

Fat Wreck Chords has announced plans to reissue albums from their back catalogue on oh-so-spiffy colored vinyl. Pretty!
Of course, the folks at Fat refuse to mention a concrete time frame for this little project, so I guess we just need to stay tuned.
However, I do have some good news!

New Video from The Used: Pretty Handsome Awkward

New Video from The Used: Pretty Handsome Awkward

“Pretty Handsome Awkward,” the latest single from The Used’s 2007 release Lies for the Liars now has a video!
It’s pretty trippy. At one point, lead singer Bert McCracken even vomits on a female while the two of them are at a club.
You can check out the video here. Let me know what you think!?

Monday Music Madness: The Epoxies

Monday Music Madness: The Epoxies

Portland, OR natives The Epoxies have posted a new song entitled “My New World” online. You can hear the track on their 5 song EP of the same name, their debut release on Metropolis Records.
Check out the song here.
The Epoxies are currently working on a full length for Metropolis, which is expected to drop sometime this Fall. Catch “My New World” on their EP, set to be released August 21st.

Album Review: Mink

Album Review: Mink

I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of the yet-to-be-released self-titled debut album from Mink.
(Who, I might add, has become my new favorite band – period!)
The quintet includes Neal Carlson on vocals, Stella Mozgawa on drums, David Lowy on rhythm guitar and Nick Maybury and Grant Fitzpatrick on lead guitar and bass, respectively.
Read on for my thoughts on their kick-ass debut album, and when you’ll be able to pick it up in stores.

Punk’s Not Dead

Punk’s Not Dead

Holy Smokes, Batman. I can’t believe I didn’t know about this earlier.
Susan Dynner, director/producer and self-professed punk rock aficionado created the documentary “Punk’s Not Dead.” I am SUPER excited to check it out, although it still hasn’t been released in a theater near me yet. Bummer.
