Album Review: Mink
I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of the yet-to-be-released self-titled debut album from Mink.
(Who, I might add, has become my new favorite band – period!)
The quintet includes Neal Carlson on vocals, Stella Mozgawa on drums, David Lowy on rhythm guitar and Nick Maybury and Grant Fitzpatrick on lead guitar and bass, respectively.
Read on for my thoughts on their kick-ass debut album, and when you’ll be able to pick it up in stores.
Before you listen to anything else, you MUST listen to Mink’s first single “Talk to Me,” which is already raging on more than 50 radio stations across the country.
“New York Summer” will easily become your summer anthem, with rockin’ guitar riffs and amazing vocals that will have you singing along (or trying to at least!)
The band takes it down a notch with “Dematerialize,” a semi-sweet bad-ass not-quite-ballad that might have you reminiscing about a failed relationships, or hell, a lost goldfish – it’s just that damn good.
You’ll get over it quickly though, with the first track off the album, “Get It Right.” Boasting screeching vocals and a grunge punk feel, you won’t be able to keep from dancing all night.
The album drops August 28th, so be sure to pick up a copy from your local music store or Amazon. Until then, get your Mink fix by clicking over to their Myspace or official website.
Their debut album definitely kept me on my toes. I can’t wait to hear more from these guys. Go listen, already!
