When I wrote for a different punk music site (before I was lucky enough to get this gig – whooo hoo!), I had the opportunity to review The Dollyrots album “Because I’m Awesome.” Full of pop-punk goodness, it was a decent album – but afterwards, The Dollyrots sort of dropped off my radar.
Well, now I hear they’re planning a few summer tour dates, INCLUDING several appearances at Warped Tour.

In an effort to reduce their carbon footprint, Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman plans to make a strong effort to “go green.”
According to this article from The El Paso Times,  Lyman created the Warped Eco Initiative as an eco-friendly approach to keeping the tour as “green” as he possibly can. Recycle, Reduce, Reuse will be a popular theme for the long-running tour this year; additionally, the tour has switched to using biodiesel fuels for large vehicles and a solar-powered stage and Warped Eco tent.

I hope all of you had a fantastic weekend and a lovely Mother’s Day, as well.
Now, let’s get the week started with some cool tunes from ska/punk outfit The Johnstones. Their new album “Sex” will drop June 3rd, but until then you can preview nine of their songs on the band’s Myspace page. Neato.
The Johnstones will be supporting their forthcoming album with a tour of Canada throughout May and June, and will also be making appearances at Warped Tour.

Yes, my friends, Rise Against WILL be playing Warped Tour this year.
The dates have been confirmed – you’ll find those below the break.
Before Warped Tour, the band will be playing several shows in Europe, Switzerland and Germany.
In other news, Rise Against is still hard at work on the follow-up album to 2006’s The Sufferer & the Witness.

Every year at Warped Tour, Smartpunk has a side stage where numerous bands play throughout the length of the tour. Well, you’re in luck my friends – there are some pretty awesome acts playing the Smartpunk stage this year.
